The problem
문제
Guild Wars 2 has a large story, but it can be hard to follow in a language you do not read comfortably. Dialogue moves too quickly to look up every line. Cutscenes lose impact when you have to guess half of the dialogue. Eventually you may skip the story and follow only the waypoint.
길드워2의 스토리가 좋다는 이야기는 많이 들었는데, 영어라서 몰입이 안 됩니다. 대사가 빠르게 지나가서 단어를 찾아볼 시간도 없고, 컷신에서 한 문장 걸러 하나도 이해 못 하면 감동도 사라집니다. 결국 전부 스킵하고 웨이포인트만 따라가게 됩니다.

CatBridge translates NPC dialogue and story text as it appears in the game. The translation shows up on a separate overlay window that you can position anywhere on screen. It does not cover the game UI — it stays alongside it, so you can read the story while playing normally.

Story lines can be shown in your selected language while the original GW2 dialogue remains on screen. AI engines can also use CatBridge's persona dictionary for named NPCs.

CatBridge gives you five free machine translation engines: M, B, C, P, and Google. M is the usual first pick, but languages and scenes vary, so another free engine may fit a specific case better. The persona dictionary only applies to AI-engine modes.

If you do not want to spend anything, use the free engines — especially M. They are genuinely useful. For story, AI engines can apply the persona dictionary and usually produce more natural NPC dialogue than machine translation.

The persona dictionary
페르소나 사전
CatBridge ships with a built-in persona dictionary for 273 named characters. Each entry defines the character's personality, speech patterns, and relationships. The dictionary activates when you use an AI engine. The selected provider handles the language model, and CatBridge provides the character data.

- Character-specific tone — a knight commander speaks with authority, a friend speaks casually, a villain speaks with contempt
- Consistent voice — the same character maintains the same speech style throughout a conversation
- Emotional context — tense scenes get short, punchy lines; calm scenes get softer phrasing

AI translation can still mix registers within a single line, and rare characters without dictionary entries may fall back to generic translation. But compared to raw machine translation, the gap is enormous. For most players, this is currently the most natural CatBridge setup for following GW2's story in another language.
